Qatar held discussions with its allies as it carried out final touches on security plans for the much-anticipated sporting event to be held this year.
With the aim to exchange expertise on best safety and security measures for major events, members of Qatar’s police forces met with the New York Police Department’s (NYPD) Transit Bureau team on Tuesday in the United States.
NYPD Chief of Transit Kathleen O’Reilly tweeted, “Our thanks to Lt. Col. Nasser Saad Al-Kuwari and his team for visiting and sharing their insight.”
Although no specific details have been shared regarding security protocols discussed between the two parties, these meetings will take place amidst Qatar’s preparations for the FIFA World Cup held later on this year.

The Gulf state has been discussing matters associated with the safety and security of the sporting event with some of its allies, including France, the UK and Turkey.
Earlier in December, 2021, officials from Qatar’s Ministry of Defence’s Executive Committee for the 2022 World Cup met with the Minister of the British Armed Forces James Heappey in Qatar. The agenda of which was to discuss UK’s role in helping secure the World Cup in Qatar.
Qatar is taking all necessary precautions and measures with regard to safety and security to deliver a safe, secured, and sustainable World Cup 2022.
