Qatar Rail announced the extension of daily timings for its second Back to School event, organised at the Sport City Station on the Gold Line of the Doha Metro, as part of its preparations for the upcoming academic school year.
The extension comes in response to the remarkable public turnout and engagement since the event kicked off on August 19.
Under the new schedule, the daily activities of the ‘Back to School 2025’ event will run from 4pm to 9pm throughout the week. Previously, the timings were from 4pm to 8pm (Sunday to Wednesday) and 4pm to 9pm (weekends).

The event, running until September 2, is part of ‘The Metro Events’ series, held throughout the year at metro stations. The initiative is aligned with the company’s strategy to transform metro stations into vibrant community destinations, attracting diverse segments of society, and reflecting its CSR commitment to launching community initiatives that foster interaction among the public within the metro network.
Since its launch, the event drew visitors of all ages to partner booths. A major highlight was the launch of the new 365-Day metropass, revealed for the first time at the event, which offers unlimited travel across both the Doha Metro and Lusail Tram networks for one year at a price of QAR990.
Visitors to the event can benefit from an exclusive early-bird offer granting 20% discount on pre-booking the card until August 31. The card can later be collected between September 1 and 30 from any gold club office at Doha Metro stations or from a Lusail Tram ticket office, upon presenting the original booking voucher at the time of purchase and collection.

Mohammed Ahmed Al Jaidah, sales manager at Qatar Rail, said: “We’re delighted with the strong public turnout with the second edition of the Back-to-School event and the positive feedback we’ve received since its launch, as we witnessed growing interest in the early-bird bookings for the 365-Day metropass.
“The launch of this new product directly responds to requests and suggestions from our valued customers, as we always prioritise their needs. We remain committed to continually developing innovative products and services that make travelling on the Doha Metro and Lusail Tram easier, more flexible, and of the best value.”
In collaboration with several partners, the event provides exclusive promotions and competitive prices on school supplies, alongside a variety of free entertainment activities for children and families.
Shaijan MO, regional director of LuLu Hypermarket Qatar, said: “We’re delighted to be part of the Back-to-School 2025 event with Qatar Rail. The event has started on a very positive note, and we expect even greater participation from families as it continues.”
Simon Groody, retail operations manager at Al Mana Fashion – Qatar and Kuwait, said: “We’re pleased to collaborate with Qatar Rail on this successful initiative. The event presents a great opportunity to attract new customers, while also allowing us to showcase our key Back-to-School products.”
