Qatar Rail announced that it received a batch of two additional trains at Hamad Port in accordance with an earlier agreement with the manufacturer, Kinki Sharyo Co Ltd.
This comes within 35 additional trains set to arrive in the upcoming months, thus, increasing the number of trains serving the Doha Metro from 75 to 110. Additionally, boosting the network's capacity during the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

The newly arrived trains will be transferred to the Qatar Rail depot in Al Wakra for assembly and testing purposes, which later will be added into the existing rail system. To ensure the highest standards of safety, all the necessary tests will be conducted.

HE Abdullah Abdulaziz al-Subaie, managing director and CEO of Qatar Rail, said: “The Doha Metro network provides a reliable and comfortable means of transportation within the city as it extensively covers and connects key destinations in Doha. The additional trainsets will undoubtedly boost the network’s capacity and decrease the headways on all the lines."
