Qatar Ranked Most Peaceful Country in MENA for 2026

The National Planning Council announced that the State of Qatar ranked first in the 2026 Global Peace Index at the level of the Middle East and North Africa region, which reinforces its position as one of the most stable and secure countries in the region, despite the current regional and global conditions.

The Council explained in a statement today that the results of the index showed an improvement in the community safety and security axis, as the State of Qatar’s ranking improved from 1.400 to 1.369 in 2026, reflecting the effectiveness of the state’s institutions, its national capabilities and its community cohesion in maintaining security, safety and stability.

The Global Peace Index is published annually by the Institute for Economics and Peace, and measures the level of peace in countries through an assessment that includes societal safety and security and a range of security, social and political criteria.

This index is a key reference for policymakers to assess the stability and security of countries, the conditions that support achieving sustainable development, attracting investments, and improving the quality of life.
