In another top rating for Qatar, the country has been ranked first in the Gulf region and fifth in the world in an international mobile internet speed index.
Qatar secured the top spot in the region with a speed of 59.90 Mbps, followed by UAE at 56.33 Mbps (7th globally), Saudi Arabia at 35.06 Mbps (35th globally), Oman at 35.06 Mbps (36th globally) and Bahrain at 26.37 Mbps (59th globally), according to the Speedtest Global Index.

This index ranks mobile and fixed broadband speeds from all over the world on a monthly basis.
According to the index, Qatar ranked first among all Gulf countries and 39th globally in terms of fixed broadband internet speed for the month of April with a speed of 62.65 Mbps.
The index indicated that the upload speed in Qatar reached an average of 16.6 Mbps from the mobile internet and 32.20 Mbps from the fixed broadband internet.
Norway took the lead as first across the globe for mobile Internet speed at 65.41 Mbps, followed by Canada at 64.42 Mbps and South Korea at 63.81 Mbps.
Singapore ranked first globally in terms of fixed broadband internet speed at 197.50 Mbps, followed by Hong Kong at 172.67 Mbps and South Korea at 144.76 Mbps.
The top ranking affirms Qatar's leading role in adopting the latest technologies to offer world-class services to the residents and citizens of Qatar.
Last year, Vodafone Qatar, preceded by Oreedoo, launched its 5G networks for the first time in the country giving customers a chance to enjoy higher bandwith and increased speed on their smart devices.
