Qatar launches first legal and judicial training programme for judicial assistants

The Ministry of Justice, represented by the Center for Legal and Judicial Studies, has launched the first training programme in legal and judicial sciences for judicial assistants, in cooperation with the Supreme Judicial Council.

A total of 13 judicial assistants are taking part in the four-month programme, which is designed to strengthen their theoretical knowledge and practical skills ahead of future judicial responsibilities.

Focus on legal knowledge and practical skills

The programme covers a wide range of specialised legal and judicial topics, including:

• Family Law
• Cybercrime Law
• General and specific provisions of the Penal Code
• Evidence in criminal, civil and commercial cases
• Sales, lease and contracting disputes
• Ownership and possession claims
• Criminal procedures and trial principles
• Civil and commercial litigation
• Judicial enforcement
• Administrative law
• Judicial values and traditions

In addition to legal theory, participants will receive practical training in analysing documents and legal cases, drafting judgments and understanding Qatari judicial approaches.

Preparing participants for court procedures

The programme also focuses on litigation procedures in civil and criminal cases, including appeals.

Participants will be trained in managing court sessions, examining evidence and checking the validity of preliminary investigation procedures, helping them build the skills required for judicial work.

The training also aims to reinforce key judicial principles including integrity, impartiality and independence.

Supporting national judicial capabilities

The programme forms part of wider cooperation between the Ministry of Justice and the Supreme Judicial Council to develop national legal and judicial talent.

The initiative is intended to improve the quality of judicial performance and support the continued development of Qatar’s justice system.

At the end of the four-month programme, participants will undergo a scientific assessment jointly supervised by the Ministry of Justice and the Supreme Judicial Council.
