Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) president Rafael Louzan has confirmed that Qatar will host the Spanish Super Cup in 2027, with Doha set to stage the tournament.
Speaking to Tiempo de Juego on Cadena COPE ahead of the Spanish Super Cup final between Real Madrid and Barcelona, Louzan said: “We’ve a good contract, a very good contract, although everything is, of course, open to improvement. Qatar will bear the event’s costs. We could hold it in February to avoid significant dates in January.”
The 2027 Spanish Super Cup has been shifted to Qatar due to a scheduling clash in Saudi Arabia, the competition’s usual host.
Saudi Arabia will be staging the AFC Asian Cup from January 7 to February 6, 2027, making it unable to accommodate the Spanish Super Cup during the same period.
As a result, the RFEF has reached an agreement with Saudi authorities to allow the 2027 edition of the competition to be held in Qatar’s capital, Doha.
