Qatar and the US enjoy strong and historic relations. This was recently emphasized at the3rd Qatar-US Strategic Dialogue held in Washington DC which convened top officials from both countries. 

The dialogue not only focused on strengthening the existing economic, military and security cooperation between Qatar and the US, but also included other areas of importance such as education, culture and development.

As the two nations vowed to take bilateral cooperation to new heights, Qatar Museums (QM) revealed that next year will be marked as Qatar-US 2021 Year of Culture.

Now, to further cement the Qatar-US bond, His Excellency the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defence Affairs Dr Khalid bin Mohamed Al Attiyah met with the US Assistant Secretary of State for Political-Military Affairs, Clarke Cooper in Washington.

The meeting that took place yesterday delved into ways to further enhance political and military cooperation between the two friendly nations.

Qatar’s ambassador to the US Sheikh Meshal bin Hamad Al Thani and the Qatari Military Attache to the US Brig Gen Nawaf bin Mubarak Al Thani also joined the meeting.

HE the Minister also met with Director of the US Defence Security Co-operation Agency Heidi Grant. During the meeting, they reviewed the relations between the two friendly countries in military security cooperation and means of enhancing them.

Qatar’s ambassador to the US Sheikh Meshal bin Hamad Al Thani, Head of the Financial Affairs Authority at the Ministry of Defence Nasser Jarallah al-Marri, and the Qatari Military Attache to the US Brig Gen Nawaf bin Mubarak Al-Thani also participated in the meeting.

As part of his visit, HE the Minister also visited a Qatar Armed Forces’ unit receiving training in the US State of West Virginia.

These personnel are in the US under the military cooperation framework between the two countries that endeavors to ensure international peace and security and to combat terrorism.
