Qatar, Uzbekistan Chambers Seek to Deepen Trade and Investment Ties

Qatar Chamber (QC) and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan discussed ways to strengthen economic cooperation and private-sector partnerships during a meeting in Tashkent.

The talks covered cooperation opportunities across various sectors, as well as the investment climate and incentives available in both countries.

QC Board Member Mohamed bin Ahmed Al Obaidly emphasized the private sector’s role in boosting bilateral trade through joint ventures and investment projects, citing the attractive investment environments and opportunities in Qatar and Uzbekistan.

He also stressed the importance of business-to-business meetings to explore partnerships in healthcare, education, agriculture, technology, and innovation, and noted that Qatar is well positioned as a hub for technology, artificial intelligence, semiconductors, and other key technology sectors.

Jamil Maksudi, Advisor to the Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan, encouraged Qatari investors to explore opportunities across multiple sectors in Uzbekistan.

He highlighted plans for the New Tashkent project, aimed at attracting leading smart-city companies, and said Qatari firms could contribute given Qatar’s expertise in the field. He also identified innovation, tourism, and logistics as key areas for cooperation and praised Qatar’s progress in these sectors.

The Uzbek side also presented an overview of its economy, investment incentives, and opportunities in the textiles, leather, construction materials, chemical, and pharmaceutical industries.

The move aligns with Qatar’s efforts to integrate innovative construction technologies into major infrastructure projects to improve productivity, quality and sustainability.
