Continuing its humanitarian efforts to aid brotherly nations, Qatar has signed an agreement with the World Food Program (WFP) to advance food security in Yemen.

The deal will support the WFP’s World Food Program to enhance food security and nutrition in Yemen at a value of $90 million.

Qatar’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Andulrahman Al Thani, who is also the Chairman of the Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD), witnessed the signing of the deal which was initialed by HE Director General of QFFD Khalifa bin Jassim Al Kuwari and the WFP Executive Director David Beasley.

The 12-month agreement seeks to benefit 7,621,932 people with general food aid, provision of food for children, expectant and lactating women, as well as provision of health and nutrition counseling aimed at raising awareness on positive food behaviors.

In addition to this the agreement will also cover the provision of ‘humanitarian air service’ to allow volunteers and staff to travel internationally and within Yemen.
