The Ministries of Defense, Interior, and Foreign Affairs have confirmed that the Qatari Armed Forces successfully intercepted several waves of missiles launched from Iran, which targeted multiple areas in Qatar, with no human fatalities recorded.
The announcement came during a joint press conference held today by the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Defense, and Interior to address the repercussions of the Iranian attack on Qatar.
The conference was attended by Ministry of Interior’s Public Relations Department Director Major-General Abdullah Khalifa Al Muftah, Acting Director of the Directorate of Moral Guidance at the Ministry of Defense Lieutenant Colonel Nasser Mohammed Al Kubaisi, and HE Director of the Media and Communication Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ibrahim Sultan Al Hashmi.
Al Muftah said the number of injuries resulting from Iranian attacks was eight. Four individuals are receiving treatment in hospital, one of whom is in critical condition, while four others received the necessary treatment and were discharged.
He said the attack caused material damage to public and private property. He noted that the MoI operated within an integrated field and operational response system, in coordination with relevant authorities, to maintain public security and community safety.
In its commitment to providing accurate information to the public, the MoI issued several statements and alerts confirming that the situation within the Qatar remains stable and secure, and that the attacks targeting the country’s territory were successfully intercepted.
Al Muftah stressed that the Ministry has urged the public to obtain information from official sources and not to be misled by rumors. The Ministry also emphasized the importance of not approaching any unknown objects or debris and of reporting them through the emergency hotline (999).
He added that the Ministry activated early warning messages via mobile phones, instructing citizens, residents, and visitors to remain in their homes and not to go out except in cases of absolute necessity until the danger had passed.
Al Muftah indicated that monitoring operations and field updates were ongoing, and that specialized teams, along with supporting entities, had handled 114 reports of falling debris across various parts of the country, including the northern, southern, central, and western regions.
He emphasized that the Ministry calls on citizens, residents, and visitors to adhere strictly to safety procedures by exercising caution, following the guidance included in official statements, complying with early warning instructions, not leaving their homes except in cases of urgent necessity, and reporting any unknown objects or debris via the emergency service (999) without approaching them.
Al Muftah reiterated the importance of obtaining information exclusively from official sources and refraining from photographing or publishing images or video clips of the aftermath of the attack in order to avoid legal accountability.
He said the Ministry, in coordination with the relevant authorities, affirmed that its security and operational system is functioning at the highest levels of readiness and efficiency, relying on advanced monitoring and early warning systems and integrated operations rooms that track developments around the clock, thereby ensuring rapid response and precise implementation of procedures.
He noted that the concerned authorities continue to carry out their duties within a unified national framework with advanced capabilities and carefully designed proactive plans, ensuring state security and community safety and enhancing the ability to address various challenges efficiently and effectively.
The Director of the Public Relations Department also praised the cooperation and awareness demonstrated by citizens, residents, and visitors of Qatar through their immediate response to warning messages and guidance as they were issued.
For his part, Lieutenant Colonel Al Kubaisi stated that the Ministry of Defense had successfully intercepted a large number of missile waves and several drones launched from Iran that targeted several areas in Qatar.
He added, during the joint Press conference, that the Armed Forces detected 65 ballistic missiles and 12 drones coming from Iran in successive waves, with the first detection recorded at 11:39 local time.
He further explained that the threat was dealt with immediately in accordance with the pre-approved operational plan, resulting in the interception of 63 missiles and 11 drones before they reached their targets.
However, due to the intensity of the attacks and the multiple directions from which they were launched, two missiles reached Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar, and one drone targeted an early warning radar, without any casualties.
He stressed that the Qatari Armed Forces possess significant capabilities and resources to protect and safeguard the sovereignty and territory of the State and to respond firmly to any external threat.
He also said that the Ministry called on citizens, residents, and visitors to remain reassured, adhere to instructions issued by the security authorities, avoid being misled by rumors, and rely solely on statements and information issued by official sources.
For his part, Al Hashmi stated that Qatar expressed its strong and unequivocal condemnation of the targeting of its territory with Iranian ballistic missiles, describing the act as a flagrant violation of its national sovereignty, a direct infringement on its security and territorial integrity, and a serious and unjustified escalation that threatens the security and stability of the entire region.
Al Hashmi added that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed that Qatar reserves its full and legitimate right to respond to this targeting in accordance with the provisions of international law and the United Nations Charter, and in a manner proportionate to the nature and scale of the attack, in defense of its sovereignty, the preservation of its national security, and the protection of its supreme interests.
He pointed out that Qatar has consistently been among the first to call for dialogue with Iran and has always considered frank and responsible dialogue to be the optimal foundation for addressing differences, resolving disputes through peaceful means, and sparing the region the risks of escalation and instability.
He stressed that the repeated targeting of Qatari territory is entirely inconsistent with the principles of good neighborliness and cannot be accepted under any pretext or justification, particularly as Qatar has consistently sought to distance itself from regional conflicts and has always acted as a trusted and impartial mediator, working continuously to facilitate dialogue among various conflicting parties in the interest of regional and global security and stability.
Al Hashmi further said that the renewed targeting of Qatari territory does not reflect good faith and undermines the foundations upon which bilateral relations between the two countries were built based on understanding, at a time when the region needs mutual understanding and the opening of channels for dialogue and communication.
He also noted that the Ministry expressed Qatar’s strong condemnation of the violation of the sovereignty of Saudi Arabia, UAE, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Jordan in this Iranian aggression, and affirmed Qatar’s full and unwavering solidarity with these brotherly states in all legitimate measures they take to safeguard their sovereignty, security, and stability.
He added that Qatar extended its sincere condolences and heartfelt sympathies to the family of the Pakistani national who passed away as a result of shrapnel falling in a residential area in Abu Dhabi due to these attacks, and also conveyed its condolences to the Government of UAE and Pakistan.
He stressed that targeting civilians or exposing them to danger, directly or indirectly, constitutes a grave violation of international humanitarian law and is unacceptable and condemnable under any circumstances or justification.
Al Hashmi concluded by noting that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs renewed Qatar’s call for the immediate cessation of any military or escalatory actions, a return to the negotiating table, the exercise of reason and wisdom, and urgent efforts to contain the crisis in a manner that preserves regional security, safeguards the interests of its peoples, and prevents a slide into broader confrontations with serious consequences for regional and international peace and security.
