The Medical Unit of the Qatari Hajj Mission organised a specialised first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) workshop for members from administrative, technical, service, and logistical departments to strengthen emergency response preparedness during Hajj.
The initiative aims to enhance the safety of Qatari pilgrims by equipping mission staff with immediate intervention skills until specialised medical teams arrive, ensuring faster and more effective responses to emergencies in Mina, Arafat, and Muzdalifah.
Conducted by specialised doctors, nurses from the Emergency Department’s medical unit, and certified CPR instructors, the workshop combined theoretical and practical training. Sessions covered first aid basics, handling emergencies such as fainting and choking, and intensive CPR training led by a specialist physician from the Hamad International Training Center using realistic Hajj-related emergency simulations.
Participants also completed hands-on exercises using specialised mannequins to practice rapid intervention and critical rescue procedures. The programme featured active discussions on potential field scenarios.
The Medical Unit said the training forms a key part of the mission’s pre-Hajj preparedness plan to improve response times and overall pilgrim safety. The mission also praised Saudi Arabia’s advanced healthcare and organisational systems supporting pilgrims during Hajj.
