Qatar is a country that has traditionally enjoyed some of the world’s lowest crime rates. A strong and effective police force has ensured that the country largely remains crime-free.

Qatar’s law enforcement authorities recently arrested a man for stealing two vehicles and setting them on fire.

Members of Qatar’s Criminal Investigation Department at the Ministry of Interior (MoI) arrested the accused after receiving a report about the incident, according to The Peninsula.

The MoI tweeted on its official Twitter handle that a video showing the crime was going viral on the social media. 

The accused, who admitted to stealing the two vehicles and burning them in some secluded area.

The MoI received a complaint regarding the theft of two vehicles following which a manhunt was launched to nab the accused. It led to his arrest, reported Qatar Tribune.

The accused has been referred to the judicial authorities for further legal action.

The MoI has urged motorists to ensure the security of their cars and not to leave them unattended without switching off the engine and not to keep valuable items inside the vehicles in a visible way.
