Qatari shooters Rashid Saleh Al Athba and Reem Al Sharshani won gold in the mixed team skeet competition of the Asian Shotgun Championships Doha 2026, currently underway at the Lusail Shooting Complex. The event, which runs until Wednesday, has 196 shooters, from 17 countries, taking part.
Friday’s competitions were intense and exciting, featuring the qualifying as well as final rounds of the mixed team skeet event. Qatar clinched gold by hitting 47 targets, followed by South Korea (Jang Soo-Hwang and Koki Jang, 45 targets) and Kazakhstan (Eduard Yashchenko, Asim Urnbay, 39 targets).

With the win, Qatar raised their medal tally to six in skeet competition — three gold and three silver. The skeet competitions will conclude today.
Official training sessions for the trap shooting competition across all categories — men, women, juniors, and youth — will begin today. While the trap qualifying rounds will be held on Sunday, individual finals for juniors and youth, and their awards ceremonies, will be held on Monday.
The individual finals for men, women, and mixed junior teams, will take place on Tuesday. The championship will conclude on Wednesday with the mixed team final, followed by the awarding of prizes to the top three finishers.
Qatar Shooting and Archery Association (QSAA) Secretary General Jassim Shaheen Al Sulaiti, who is also Director of the Championships, expressed his delight at Qatar’s medal win.
“Our season started very strongly, with our athletes’ participation in the Asian Shotgun Championship. We managed to clinch six medals, and it’s a testament to the continuous work put in by the national team’s technical staff,” he said.
He thanked Qatar Olympic Committee President HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani and QSAA President Dr Meshaal Ibrahim Al Nasr for their ongoing support — providing shooters with all necessary resources, including training camps and top-level coaches —which helped them win medals.
He said the trap shooters were ready for the competition.
“Our shooters are ready and are looking forward to continuing their success, similar to the skeet competition,” he said.
Al Sulaiti said Qatar will host the World Shooting Championships in November 2027, which will serve as a qualifier for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. He said the Qatari team will prepare for this event by participating in several upcoming local, Gulf, Arab, and continental competitions, culminating in the World Championship in Qatar at the end of this year.
