Adventure sports is always fraught with risks and dangers. It is the reason why people say only experts should indulge in it.

But sometimes, even experts will get blindsided and they can rely only on their own expertise to get out of the sticky situation.

Two Qatari skydivers, who were practising as part of the World Parachuting Championships in Australia’s Gold Coast, had a miraculous mid-air escape after their parachutes got entangled during a complex routine, according to The Peninsula.

Dramatic footage of the incident, which was captured by a TV camera, show the team training and then heavy winds causing chaos.

The two members of the Qatar Skydiving Team spiralled downward as their parachutes got tangled up at 6,500ft.

However, the experienced skydivers, who have a lot jumps between them, managed to cut themselves free and deploy their reserve parachutes with around 700M to go and seconds to spare, according to The Peninsula.

The coach and their other teammates watched as the two men spiralled down for 26secs before being able to bring things under control.

“You’ve to push to the limit, and when you go over the limit, this happens,” Qatar’s coach Mikael Anderson was quoted as saying by 7 News in Australia.

News report quoted one of the parachutists as saying they had trained for getting tangled up and practised what to do.

“Some mistake happened when we were ducking towards each other and we had a collision. We cannot fix it, we had to cut it out. We spent a lot of time practising. If you know how to fix the problem, you’ll not get nervous," said one of the parachutists involved in the incident.

Despite the heavy wind, the four-man Qatari team went back to practice the formation again and took part in the competition the next day.
