Participating in the 13th edition of the Pan Arab Games 2023 in Algeria, team Qatar has gained four gold, two silver and three bronze medals raising their medal tally to 9 as of today, July 9, 2023.

Qatar’s boxing champion Dana Ali claimed bronze in the 63kg category yesterday while Qatar’s volleyball champions beat Jordan 3-0, to edge closer to the semifinals of the men’s volleyball championships at the Pan Arab Games.

Other Qatari medal holders at the Pan Arab Games include Bassem Hemeida who won gold at the 400m hurdles, clocking an impressive 49.14 seconds while his teammate Ahmed Al Seifi claimed silver at the hammer throw with a distance of 69.61 meters.

Qatar’s Pole Vault Champion Seif Mohammed was also able to secure gold in the Pole Vault event, while Hamdi Al Amin secured silver in the men’s high jump event.

With Dana Ali’s impressive win for second place, team Qatar’s list of winners also includes a female athlete in this year’s games.

The Pan Arab Games will take place from July 5-15, 2023 and witness the participation of around 3500 athletes from 22 Arab League countries competing in around 20 sports.

Meanwhile at the 42nd General Assembly of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) held in Bangkok yesterday, H.E. Sheikh Talal Al-Fahad was elected as the President of the OCA while H.E. Dr. Thani bin Abdulrahman Al Kuwari was re-elected as the Vice President for West Asia of the OCA.
