Several major ministries, stakeholders, and local dignitaries will attend the opening ceremony and ribbon cutting of the Build Your House Exhibition 2022 (BYH) - inaugurated by Minister of Commerce and Industry, H.E. Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Qassim Al Abdullah Al Thani on 28th March at Qatar National Convention Centre (QNCC).

This dynamic three-day event is open to Qatar's homebuilders From 28 to 30 March, held under the patronage of Qatar's Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, H.E. Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdul Aziz al-Thani.

Concerning BYH 2022, Mr. Rawad Sleem, Co-Founder and General Manager of NeXTfairs or Exhibitions and Conferences, said: “We are extremely pleased to be welcoming partners, sponsors, exhibitors and visitors to the third edition of BYH — a homegrown exhibition that enables Qatar’s society to improve their standards of living, while stimulating economic growth.

The most recent state budget amounted to 74 billion riyals, with projects to develop citizens’ lands receiving priority spending from these allocations. This year’s BYH Exhibition continues to fuel the growth of the real estate sector and strives to exceed the QR400M riyals worth of deals signed during the previous two editions of the exhibition.”

Mr. Mohammad Ali Al-Mohannadi, Public Relations and Communication Manager at Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation “Kahramaa” explained the significance of the exhibition, saying: “BYH is one of the most important events supporting the national economy by creating a common space for various entities working in the field of building and construction uniting the efforts of government and private companies to serve the Qatari community.” 

He added: "Kahramaa's participation in this edition of BYH as a sustainability partner, is a prolongation of our fruitful engagement in the previous editions, and a form of our constant support. Our slogan this year is Secure Your House. A team of experts and engineers from the Kahramaa will present modern ways to secure and protect the house by avoiding short circuits across all internal and external electrical installations. The team in the booth will also provide advice on inspecting the water installations to avoid any damages that might happen because of water leakage in the house.”

The BYH Exhibition is seen as a channel for connecting Qatari companies involved in the residential design and building industry with Qatari citizens seeking to build or modernise their homes.

Attendees can choose between over 150 exhibitors from five main sectors: Consultants, Contractors, Suppliers, General Services, and Smart Solutions. Guests can also see two large country pavilions from Turkey and Portugal, which will feature exhibitors eager to introduce high-quality products and services to Qatar and the Middle East market. 

The pavilions will showcase a wide array of high-quality building products and materials, such as aluminium, cable protection, hardwood flooring, suspended ceilings, and roof systems, along with award-winning furniture, upholstery, and home textiles from reputable designers.

BYH Exhibition's Knowledge Sharing Conference and Future and Smart Living Conference will also provide important information to attendees. Over three days, the Knowledge Sharing Conference will cover topics such as design concepts, construction phases, licensing procedures, implementation, and finishes. In addition, the conference will cover smart technologies and sustainable living environments for the construction of modern homes.

The event will feature talks by architects, interior designers, professors, and academics from Qatar University, VCU Qatar, Jotun, Bluu Design, We Do Design, Design House Interiors, Arab Engineering Bureau, and local government entities. 

Representing conference partners, Stephanie Kinnick, AIA Middle East President, said: “BYH will be an inspiration for Qatari homebuilders, an opportunity to gain invaluable insights into how to make your vision of a home, a reality. AIA Middle East is honoured to be part of the BYH Exhibition 2022, and we wish the organisers and the participants a very successful event.”

Shovan Das, General Manager, Jotun Paints Qatar W.L.L, said: “As our continued commitment to Qatari homeowners, Jotun paints will be showcasing new products and colours exclusively at BYH this year. We look forward to seeing you at the exhibition.”

With the aim of nurturing future design talents, BYH Exhibition 2022 will host its annual Junior Design Competition in partnership with VCUarts Qatar, whereby 10 students will submit their designs, and three winners will be selected and awarded at the conference.

Concerning the design competition, Dr. Haithem A. El-Hammali, Assistant Professor Interior Design, Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts in Qatar, said: “On behalf of VCUarts Qatar, the Department of Interior Design is pleased to retake participation in the third edition of the BYH. And we are committed to being a part of the exhibition for years to come. The BYH offers valuable insight into the building and interior design industry's current demands and trends and highlights various opportunities. 

“Opportunities for our students to be aware of multiple products and services offered by the industry and attending the exhibition is the perfect way to meet and mingle with other professionals, which allow our students to network with firms and companies and build professional relationships through exchanging ideas and knowledge. This event allows students to constantly develop and perfect their practices with new knowledge and ideas,” he added.

As a firm believer in adhering to Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) regulations, BYHE and its hygiene partners, Boecker, are ensuring that the venue is sanitised twice daily and remains in compliance with the regulations by following stringent hygienic processes. 

Boecker's Country Manager, Carla Ghaleb, said: “Boecker has more than 15 years of experience in the disinfection field for public and private places. Our team of highly trained technicians will be performing disinfection services throughout the duration of the exhibition, following all the safety standards, and using the latest equipment, to ensure the safety of the visitors, exhibitors, and organisers. In addition to that, our consultants will be performing audits to make sure that all guidelines set by the Ministry of Public Health are being followed and maintained.”

Health status will be checked through the Ehteraz app before participants and visitors are allowed inside, and masks will be enforced. Visitors will also have to pre-register to attend the event via the visitor portal, which is now open, allowing event organisers to monitor the capacity of the exhibition halls. 

BYH Exhibition is held from 28-30 March 2022, at Halls 8 & 9 at Qatar National Convention Centre (QNCC). Daily opening times are: 10 am – 10 pm. For more information, visit Build Your House Qatar.
