The Week 1of 2019-20 QNB Stars League was quite a thrilling experience. A total of 21 goals were scored in Round 1.

All games were played at the Al Sadd and Al Janoub Stadiums, which has cooling technology, and that helped the players settle into their stride straightway.

Round 1 results:

21 August 2019

Al Sadd – 4, Al Wakrah – 1 at Al Sadd stadium

Al Sadd started their title defense with a 4-1 victory over Al Wakrah. Goals were scored by Abdulaziz Al Ansari, Abdelkarim Hassan, and Ahmed Sayyar (two).

Qatar SC – 1, Al Duhail – 2 at Al Janoub stadium

Qatar SC was leading by a goal until Al Duhail scored two late goals and won.

22 August 2019

Al Gharafa – 3, Al Shahania – 0 at Al Janoub stadium

Al Gharafa had it easy against Al Shahania.

Al Sailiya – 1, Al Khor – 1 at Al Sadd stadium

It was a draw and both goals came off penalties.

23 August 2019

Al Arabi – 3, Al Ahli – 1 at Al Janoub stadium

Al Arabi defeated Al Ahli by a 3-1 margin.

Al Rayyan – 2, Umm Salal – 2 at Al Sadd stadium

A Rayyan and Umm Salal were locked in a 2-2 draw.

Four players have scored two goals each, Ahmed Sayyar of Al Sadd, Mahmoud Al Mawas of Umm Salal, Hamdi Harbaoui of Al Arabi and Ahmed Alaaeldin of Al Gharafa.

Week 2 fixtures will witness two matches each being played on August 29, August 30, and August 31.

The fixtures are Al Wakrah vs Qatar SC (5:10 pm at Al Sadd Stadium) and Al Duhail vs Al Arabi (7:20 pm at Al Janoub Stadium) on Thursday, Al Khor vs Umm Salal (5:10 pm at Al Janoub Stadium) and Al Rayyan vs Al Gharafa (7:20 pm at Al Sadd Stadium) on Friday and Al Ahli vs Al Sailiya (5:10 pm, Al Janoub Stadium) and Al Shahania vs Al Sadd (7:20 pm at Al Sadd Stadium) on Saturday.
