The Mechanical Equipment Department under the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) had coordinated the Volunteering and Local Development Division of Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) to distribute 2,000 hygiene kits to the municipality and cleaning workers.
Based on the social welfare scheme for expatriate workers in the region, the activity falls under the ‘Your Health Is a Priority’ initiative and was done in compliance with the COVID-19 preventive measures.

It aims to improve laborers' health by better integrating them into society and encouraging them to adhere to cleanliness standards, particularly during the summer.

Head of Volunteers Section at QRCS Nasser Malallah Al Malki said, “This is a joint activity with MME to promote hygiene practices among workers, which would be good for them and for the community at large.
“Expatriate workers are one of the top priorities on our local development agenda, especially amid such a universal emergency. In Qatar, things are going back to normalcy gradually, but still, we need to keep observing the coronavirus preventive measures,” he added.
