Under the ‘Lebanon in Our Hearts’ initiative, Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) together with the Lebanese Red Cross has been providing assistance to those impacted by the Beirut Port Explosion on August 4, 2020.
QRCS teams have been repairing homes damaged in the explosion with the help of the shelter kits sent by Qatar as part of the humanitarian aid for Beirut.
At least 25 homes were repaired on the first day. The plan is to repair a total of 500 within a week to 10 days.
With this assistance, the families affected by the devastation will be able to return to their homes soon.

According to QRCS, more repair works will be carried out at later stages in a bid to alleviate the economic, health and mental impact on the population and meeting their needs.
In addition to this, the QRCS representation mission in Lebanon also distributed the first batch of medical supplies among ambulance workers of the Lebanese Red Cross. This comprised 70,000 masks, face shields, gloves and sanitizers.
An early recovery plan, to offer medical and ambulance aid, fresh meals, food supplies and family hygiene kits, is also in the works.
These activities cover Zone 2 (Martyrs' Square), Zone 23 (Gemmayzeh) and Zones 6-11 (Karantina) in the proximity of the Beirut harbor.

QRCS welcomes donations from the people of Qatar via the website (www.qrcs.org.qa), donor service line (66666364), home collector service (33998898), or Raca-licensed donation collectors at malls and shopping centers to continue its humanitarian works ahead.
As part of its constant support to Lebanon, Qatar officially opened two fully-equipped field hospitals in Beirut recently.
Earlier, during an international fundraising conference for Lebanon, organized by French President Emmanual Macron and United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani stressed global solidarity with the Lebanese people as they face tragic and dire circumstances.
HH the Amir mentioned that Qatar was quick to respond to the tragedy and help the brothers in Lebanon by providing aid worth a total of $50 million. In the coming days, Qatar will also announce its contribution to the reconstruction of Beirut through different projects.
