Qatar has maintained a strong focus on providing high-quality, accessible healthcare to its citizens and residents.
As the country continues to enhance its healthcare services, the Qatar Rehabilitation Institute (QRI) has introduced the first rehabilitation helpline to support discharged patients to get follow-up care and services.
Known as ‘Tawasol,’ the helpline is meant to assist patients after they have been discharged from the hospital to continue with their rehabilitation services.
The helpline covers all the areas of pediatric, adult and older adult rehabilitation services.

Medical Director of QRI and National Lead for Healthy Ageing Dr Hanadi Al Hamad highlighted the significance of the helpline in facilitating continuity of care.
"Every day our clinicians see patients who have experienced a physical trauma following an accident, or neurological damage following a stroke or major surgery, or they have a debilitating chronic disease that impacts their ability to function independently in the community,” Dr Al Hanadi said.
"Ongoing rehabilitation therapy is an important component of the patients' recovery journey, not only during their hospital stay but also after they have been discharged from hospital,” she added.
She further mentioned that while rehabilitative care is offered to a broad spectrum of patients, there are also “a significant number of patients who struggle to find their way within the healthcare system.”
Some of the elderly patients find it more challenging to access the right follow-up care once they leave the hospital, she underlined.
This is where the helpline will prove beneficial and address such challenges, according to her.
“Not only will it help patients get follow-up appointments for rehabilitative care but it will also enable patients aged 60 and above to get an appointment with the new Geriatric Wellness Clinic," Dr Al Hanadi noted.
