To support post-graduate research projects in the fields of environmental risk assessment and monitoring and water re-use, Qatar University and ExxonMobil Research Qatar’s agreed to extend the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for another five years.
The MoU was signed by Dr Hassan Al Derham, QU president and Dominic Genetti, President and General Manager for ExxonMobil Qatar.
According to Dr Hassan Al Derham, QU president, “QU and ExxonMobil aim to strengthen the collaboration between academics and research, and the industry. This collaboration with ExxonMobil will build more synergy between our students, faculty and researchers, and the industry. One of the key focus areas of QU is the energy and environment sector, and we look forward to sharing knowledge and collaborating on research in this field.”
“Through the agreement, both organizations will strive towards the continuous development of student research programs, to promote academic and industry relations, foster innovation, and facilitate the development and use of state-of-the-art technology,” he added.
Dominic Genetti, President and General Manager for ExxonMobil Qatar said, “We are very pleased to extend ExxonMobil Research Qatar’s agreement with Qatar University for another five years to support post-graduate research projects in the fields of environmental risk assessment and monitoring and water re-use.”
“The university has been a key partner of ours for more than two decades, and this collaboration is a great example of how research partnerships between industry and academia can help individuals succeed and make a positive impact in society”, added Genetti.
Dr Mohamad Al Sulaiti, Research Director for ExxonMobil Research Qatar, said, “The program provides extensive academic and research opportunities for students, but what’s most important is that through it, society will benefit from a stream of advances in environmental sciences, that can vastly improve everyone’s life. Essentially, we’re working in partnership with the university to meet the objectives of the Qatar National Vision 2030 by collaborating with QU in developing human potential and protecting Qatar’s natural environment at the same time.”
