Different parts of the Qatar are currently experiencing heavy rainfall, and hailstones.

As much delight as the rain brings, it is important remember to enjoy the beautiful rain from the safety of your homes.

Qatar is expected to witness unsettled weather conditions on intermittent periods starting today until the beginning of next week as cloud amount increases gradually.

Qatar's Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has warned the public to be cautious and follow safety precautions during this rainy and hailstone weather accompanied with strong wind causing blowing dust and low visibility in some areas.

The prevailing wind during this period will be Northeasterly to Southeasterly moderate to fresh becoming strong at times especially during expected thunderstorms causing wave height to rise to more than 8 FT.

Temperatures are expected to range between 27-32°C maximum and between 18-23°C minimum.

The authority has warned people to not engage in marine activities in this wet weather with high tides.

The Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation (Kahramaa) had also issued an advisory on how to stay safe and use electrical items properly during rains:

- Do not handle electrical items with wet hands, the advisory says, advising people to wear 'electrically insulated' gloves and shoes while handling such objects.

- Do not approach an electricity pole or power line in rainy conditions.

- In case of a sudden power outage, turn off plugs and switches.

- Never use electrical wiring or cords in wet places

- Make sure that outdoor electrical panel boxes and lighting do not have any water leaks and the outlets are insulated

- Keep all electrical appliances away from direct rain

- Stay away from tall, 'standalone' trees and electrical poles, and find a 'low, safe spot' in rainy conditions.

- Never touch an electrical appliance if it has dropped in water, and must turn off the power supply in such cases.

- Make sure you have emergency lighting devices that can be used whenever needed.

- In the event of an emergency, call 991 and also report the matter via the Kahramaa mobile application.
