A total of eight beaches are set to reopen post-renovation on November 1, including Sealine Beach, Al Wakra Beaches, and Simaisma Family Beach, according to the officials of Ministry of Municipality (MoM). These include the beaches that had earlier been declared closed to the public for rework ahead of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and will now open to welcome residents and fans alike.

The renovation project undertaken by the Ministry intended to enhance the beach experience for visitors by providing necessary services, such as walkways, shaded canopies, permanent toilets, barbecue areas, kids’ play areas, and small kiosks. Additionally, some of these beaches are also expected to feature dedicated walkways for people with special needs to access the sea area. The beaches are also anticipated to power using solar energy.

The Director of Projects and Development Department at the Ministry, Suleiman Al Abdullah spoke on the Al Majlis Programme of Alkass TV Channel. He quoted that earlier, 18 beaches had been marked for renovation by MoM for improving public access and facilities. Of these, eight are set to open on November 1 as a part of a phase one plan for reopening in anticipation of the global football tournament.

Sealine Public Beach, Al Ghariya Beach, Al Farkhia Beach, Al Wakra Public Beach, Al Wakra Family Beach, Al Kharaij Beach, Safa Al Tawq Beach, and Simaisma Family Beach have been renovated for public use.

All these steps taken by the Ministry of Municipality are in line with the country’s plan to be FIFA-ready as we brace ourselves to welcome a huge number of football fans from across the world.
