The two deadly earthquakes in Turkey and Syria, which has so far left 35,000 people dead and thousands of others homeless, are the worst natural calamities to have hit the world in recent times.
Qatar had rushed to the two countries’ aid, with HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani directing the launch of an air bridge to provide necessary support.
On Monday, the Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) announced that a second medical team, consisting entirely of volunteer professionals, had flown to Syria to perform complex surgical procedures on injured earthquake survivors.

The team, consisting of 13 volunteer doctors, has arrived in Turkey and is heading to northern Syria. These doctors, who deal with a variety of surgical and medical specialties, have high expertise in dealing with complex cases, QRCS said on social media.

The second medical team will join the first batch of eight doctors who are currently performing delicate surgeries in northern Syrian hospitals.
The QRCS has been doing a great job in helping those affected by the quake. In addition to sending personnel and aid, they allocated $1 million towards initial relief operations.
Earlier, in a terrible tragedy, four members of the QRCS had lost their lives during rescue operations in Syria.
Qatari and expatriate citizens, as well as public and private companies, have been loosening their pursestrings in order to collect aid for the two countries. The Aoun Wa Sanad earthquake relief campaign collected over QR168 million in a single day. Sheikh Tamim had personally contributed QR50 million towards the collection drive.
Qatar had also allocated 10,000 mobile homes for use by those affected by the earthquake.
Sheikh Tamim, who recently visited Turkey, met with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, before offering all help.
Qatar Museums has also announced a new campaign — Be Their Hope — encouraging staff, visitors and sponsors to participate in donating items to help the earthquake survivors.
Those who wish to donate to the cause of helping people in Turkey and Syria can do so here.
