Shangri-La Group revealed details on the appointment of a new global sales agent based in Qatar.  

The new venture is expected to support Shangri-La’s expansion plans and to drive business from this key market. It will complement the Hong Kong-based company’s existing sales offices in Australia, Brazil, China, Germany, India, Japan, Korea, Russia, Singapore United Kingdom and United States.

The Group has chosen to partner with Regency Travel & Tours. Founded in 1987, Regency Travel & Tours is the leading IATA travel agency in Qatar staffed with 368 highly-trained multilingual professionals and 20 branches across Qatar.

“We see long-term potential in Qatar, and we are committed to our growth in the region.  Qatar is a key source market for many of our hotels worldwide.  Having a global sales office here will allow us to build on the existing strong demand and to increase the outbound traffic even further,” said John Northen, Shangri-La Group’s executive vice president, Middle East, India and Indian Ocean.

The sales office will further enhance Shangri-La Group’s visibility in Qatar and raise awareness of the Group’s portfolio across the world.  In 2018, room revenue from Qatar to Shangri-La hotels and resorts globally increased by 6% compared to 2017.
