HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani arrived in Colombo yesterday as part of his three-nation Asian
tour.
On arrival, the Emir stressed Qatar’s “keenness to advance bilateral co-operation in all fields to serve the interests of the people of both countries”, the official Qatar News Agency (QNA) said.
The Emir and Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena held a round of official talks which focused on enhancing bilateral co-operation in the economic fields and reviewed regional and international developments.
Members of the official delegation accompanying the Emir and a number of senior Sri Lankan ministers were also present during the discussions.
The Sri Lankan Broadcasting Corporation said the two countries had signed three agreements on co-operation in sports, youth affairs and media sectors.
The Emir departed Colombo for India yesterday evening, concluding his one-day visit to Sri Lanka.
