"Hello from the top of Europe," Sheikha Asma Al Thani posted a picture on Instagram with this caption on Monday, August 2, 2021, as she successfully reaches the summit of Mount Elbrus, at 5,642m is the highest peak in Europe.
Mount Elbrus is a magnificent volcanic peak located in the Caucasus Mountains of Russia and at 5,642m which is the highest peak in Europe.
“This year has been a challenging one for me. I spent the past couple of years planning for the highest summit, the top of the world. But this year it wasn’t meant to be. It took a while for me to accept that I might have lost. The key though, win or lose, is to never fail”, mentioned Sheikha Asma Al Thani, the Director of Marketing and Communications at the Qatar Olympic Committee in her post.
An avid adventurer, Sheikha Asma is aiming to become the first woman from the Middle East to complete the Explorers Grand Slam, a challenge to reach the North Pole and the South Pole as well as all of the seven summits (Everest, Aconcagua, Denali, Kilimanjaro, Vinson, Puncak Jaya, and Mount Elbrus).
Sheikha Asma aimed to ascend Mount Everest earlier this year, however, it needed to be postponed due to extreme weather conditions.
To date, Sheikha Asma has conquered Mount Elbrus, Aconcagua in 2019, the North Pole in 2018, and Kilimanjaro in 2014.
“I believe that things happen for a reason, we might not see it from the start. But I am grateful for the people I have met in this journey, people who have changed my life and will be part of my journey”, she thanked those who supported her throughout her journey.
“With dreams comes a big responsibility to yourself, every single day you should wake up and commit yourself to becoming a better person, and to getting one step closer to what you deserve. You owe it to yourself. There may be times where you feel like giving up, but you must push through to get to the other side of your dreams. There are no limitations to what we can achieve except those we place on ourselves”, she added in her post.
She concluded by writing,” This is only the beginning! Watch this space! Time to make the magic happen!”
