Authorities in Sudan have allowed the reopening of Al Jazeera Media Network's office in the capital, Khartoum, more than two months after ordering its closure in the wake of pro-democracy demonstrations in the country, according to Al Jazeera.
"The Sudanese authorities have agreed to let us resume our work in covering Sudan," said Al-Musallami Al-Kabbashi, the channel's director in Khartoum.

In May this year, Al Jazeera staff in the Khartoum office were told that their license and work permits were being withdrawn with immediate effect.
The news channel's staff had handed over equipment and closed down the office after being notified of the decision by the country's Transitional Military Council, reported Gulf Times.
In a statement yesterday, Al Jazeera welcomed the decision about the reopening of its bureau, saying the move was "further testament to the network's professionalism."
"It is a right given by international law for journalists and media outlets to carry out their role," the Qatar-based network said.
"In this regard, we hope that the Sudanese authority's decision to reopen the bureau rings in a new phase in the country's stance towards media freedom and the protection of journalists."
