Let’s be honest, the chance to eat both doughnuts and ice cream in one dessert is like having your cake and eating it too. For a sugar enthusiast, Icy Bun is a good place to try out this combo, though I would warn anyone that doesn’t like their dessert too sweet.

This rather tiny ice cream and doughnut parlour is located in Al Aziziyah a five-minute drive away from Villagio (ten in traffic, frankly), and is mainly a takeaway sort of place, though you can hunker down on one of the stools inside if immediate gratification is your thing.

You have a choice between a “Glazed Bun”, which is like a glazed doughnut and ice cream sandwich (which is what we picked), or a “Donut Bomb”, which is basically a doughnut filled with a filling of your preference. They have six different delicious sauces and toppings on offer, though you will have to pay extra to add.

One thing that is satisfying is the sensation of biting into three different textures at once. The crispy glaze of the donut plus the silkiness of the ice cream with the crunch of topping works out rather well, but again, you’ll have to decide for yourself.

The only downside of the Glazed Bun ice cream sandwich would be that you may not be able to taste each flavour distinctly, it sort of just bunches up into a singular taste of sweetness, but that may have been because of our ice cream and topping choices (vanilla and chocolate ice cream with Kinder sauce and cookie crunch).

If anything, the food certainly makes for a great Instagram post! One of the best points int Icy Bun's favour is that it delivers, so if you ever do have an intense need for a sugar rush, this is a good choice for an emergency dessert order.
