With Ramadan just around the corner and seeing Qatar slowly come into full swing as we prepare for the auspicious month, we thought of sharing some tips for the last week to help you prepare for the next 30 days!
Ramadan is the ninth month in the Islamic calendar where Muslims fast from dawn to dusk. Muslim fast, pray, recite the Quran with the intention of self-restraining, as per the Islamic guidelines.
As Ramadan is falling this weekend, we’re listing a few things that will help you gear up for it!
Stock up on the essentials
Heads up, it's Vimto season! When we say essentials, we don’t just mean fried products, we are talking about things like laban, yogurt, coconut water, dates that will help you last a few days. As these products are time-sensitive, be sure you don’t stock up the fridge with more than 2 of them! It is believed that laban can help with managing your thirst all day so it’s ideal to get some Baladna favorites in the fridge.
Quran and taraweh timimgs
As Ramadan is about taking in all the blessings of the month and using them to the maximum to earn forgiveness, we would recommend on started on a few surahs or pages right away to get you in the flow. Also, due to COVID restrictions, it is best to check the mosque in your area to learn about the Taraweeh timings in advance. This way, you know exactly how your day is going to pan out with a few things sorted.
Add a routine/exercise
With office timings changing and the entire country setting in the routine, let's not forget that Ramadan can also mean some unhealthy habits getting picked up – we’re looking at all the fried food on the table! Add in some exercise for yourself an hour before iftar or post iftar so your body is still getting the movement needed during this!
Prepare your meals
We know for a fact that many households, especially Qatari’s, tend to have an iftar spread from everyone. Ramadan itself is a celebratory month as people often get together to break the fast and head to Taraweeh. For this purpose, start preparing some pre-cooked or pre-frozen items that will be useful, so that all members of the household have fun during this time too!
Download an app
Confused about the timings? We highly recommend adding Tahajjud to your routine as well and to know the right time for all your prayers, an app is your best friend. Whether you’re in the office, taking a nap, or busy with your daily errands, your phone should be able to buzz you a reminder to offer your salah.
Give charity
The month to earn the maximum blessings! Various charities across town will be able to help you sort this one whether it is clothes, foods or even volunteer work. Make sure you’re also carrying change or even making small packages to offer to people perhaps on the nearby working site. Helping even a single person break a fast this month will get you an abundance of blessings!
See a doctor
A point we often overlook – see a doctor before you step into Ramadan this year. A lot of people are on medications or have conditions that need to be looked into before fasting and we also need to be realistic about our goals this month. Talk to your doctor so they can navigate your Ramadan according to your health!
