In just three days time, the illegal siege of Qatar would have completed a full year. Despite the huge pressure, Qatar has managed to overcome the siege. However, it has come at a terrible price for the people.

Families in Qatar and the siege nations have been torn apart and there has been a lot of human rights violations to go along with it.

The European Parliament has now affirmed that there has been many human rights violations caused by the ongoing unjust siege on Qatar.

The National Human Rights Committee (NHRC) welcomed the decision of the European Parliament, according to The Peninsula.

Before the European Parliament’s affirmation, several other global organisations had been pointing out these gross human rights violations.

The NHRC said this was a positive step by the European Parliament, in addition to the positions of the High Commissioner for Human Rights and the Special Rapporteurs of the United Nations on their condemnation of the unilateral measures taken by the siege countries, reported Qatar Tribune

Meanwhile, the European Parliament also called for further measures and steps to condemn the siege countries and determine their legal responsibility for violations and redress of victims.

The NHRC also called on the EU countries to support the European Parliament's position and exert pressure to stop human rights violations resulting from the siege imposed on Qatar.
