Qatar has been developing its infrastructure actively and there have been several updates in the country. With iconic structures already existing, the new projects under development have become the talk of the town. Here are a few projects that are expected to open before the end of the year
Lusail Boulevard
Lusail Boulevard in Downtown Lusail will be a dynamic, diverse, and unique shopping, commercial and residential destination. It will have a contemporary urban architecture and cosmopolitan high-street lifestyle feel – along a 1.3km avenue of pedestrian-friendly air-cooled walkways, extending to the iconic towers of Al Sa’ad Plaza. Its public realm, size, and buildings are modeled after the Avenue des Champs-Élysées; an international experience brought to life by prestige retail, leisure, and cultural activities with a GFA of 250,000 sqm.
Across the destination, a wide range of shopping and food outlets offers residents and visitors unique high-street lifestyle and leisure experiences. The commercial district’s urban plan is meticulously designed for pedestrian street shopping and dining, facilitating mobility through its connection to underground car parking, which will provide 2,000 parking spaces. Lusail Boulevard’s four tram stations will connect Downtown Lusail’s epicenter to the rest of Lusail, as well as to the city’s main tram stations.

Meryal Waterpark - Qetaifan Island
Meryal waterpark has been one of the most anticipated projects of the year. Developing under Qetaifan Projects, the waterpark is expected to open in the second half of this year.
Location: Qetaifan Island North, Lusail City
The waterpark will have 36 waterslides. Some of its distinctive features include the Icon Tower water slide which is 85 meters high and will also consist of 12 waterslides on it. This water slide is going to be one of its kind in the world as it will be recorded as the world’s tallest in Guinness records.
The entire water park will be spread over 281648 sqm and will welcome guests from the third quarter of the year. The name Meryal has been derived from Arabic, showcasing history and culture. The management aims to make Qetaifan Island North a tourist haven with the waterpark adding as an entertainment and cultural landmark. Corinthia Yacht Club
The new Corinthia Yacht Club project developed by UDC, will be managed by Corinthia Hotels and located in Porto Arabia at The Pearl, Qatar. It will span a built-up area of 2,232 sqm and will feature a state-of-the-art design, stunning views, and many facilities including fine dining restaurants, climatized outdoor seating, as well as a cigar lounge, several meeting rooms, and many more services that help create a leisurely feel.

With its modern design and elegant settings, Corinthia Yacht Club will offer a unique ambiance within charming marina backdrops. It will be therefore the ideal location for casual gatherings and enjoyment as well as a prized addition to the distinctive facilities of The Pearl, Qatar. Corniche Beautification Project
The Corniche surrounds Doha Bay, covering a length of seven kilometers. It comprises three main areas: Corniche Park and Promenade, Corniche Street, and the Government zone. 
The Supervisory Committee of Beautification of Roads and Public Places in Qatar at the Public Works Authority ‘Ashghal’ declared the start of the second and third packages of Doha Central Development and Beautification Projects.

What to expect?
1) Cycling & jogging tracks
The project involves development of the Corniche walkway. It will have a cycling and jogging path, and will connect it with tracks along Airport Road and Ras Bu Abboud extending to Lusail Expressway.
2) Construction of 3 pedestrian tunnels: Al Dafna, Corniche & Al Bidda tunnels – Infra roads
These tunnels aim to enhance pedestrian movement and link commuters to neighboring places.
3) Construction of 3 plazas: Al Dafna, Corniche & Al Bidda Plazas
The project also intends to develop public places and plazas in the region to create striking and lively places through the provision of services and aesthetic elements including retiring areas, benches, kiosks, display screens and visual art works attracting visitors to socialize and enjoy the view.
4) Open exhibition spaces on the Corniche with several artworks
People who are passionate about art and craft can soon exhibit their artworks and artifacts. Artworks will also be on display for people to see.

Fuwairit Kite Beach
Situated on Qatar’s northern coast, of perfect wind, warm crystal-clear water is one of the world’s best kitesurfing secrets. An hour's drive north of Hamad International Airport, lies the pristine beach of Fuwairit, soon to be the global home of kitesurfing with the Fuwairit Kite Beach. It will be a resort designed and dedicated to everything we love about this sport. A place where the flat lagoon, warm water, and ideal wind work in harmony to create consistently perfect and clean kitesurfing conditions–9 months of the year!

Katara Towers - Lusail City
Symbolically intertwined with Qatar’s heritage, the Iconic Katara Towers in Lusail Marina are an architectural translation of Qatar’s national seal, representing the traditional scimitar swords. Katara Hospitality is one of the first investors that understood the significance of the project, and the aim was to create the hospitality icon of the 21st Century that is within one of the world’s most exciting urban developments. His Excellency Sheikh Nawaf bin Jassim bin Jabor Al Thani, Chairman of Katara Hospitality said, ''While we regard 2022 as a milestone in the country’s development, this new property in Lusail will also occupy a focal point for residents and travelers during the FIFA World Cup.''

Dadu – Children's Museum
Qatar will be getting its first-ever children’s museum, Dadu, hosted under the Qatar Museum’s authority. The idea has been to give children and their families a dedicated space to grow and learn with open-ended play, experimentation, exploration, and an inclusive environment.
Dadu is derived from the Arabic language, describing the marks that are made during creative play or activities. Reminiscing on the traces of these marks all through life, and with play being an integral memory of childhood, Dadu aims to be that mark for children in the country through playful and creative activities.
One of Dadu’s unique features includes the fact that this is a publicly funded museum with families, companies, and donors who are directly involved in funding the future of Qatar and its children.
The museum will aid in developing children’s growth in different areas through science, psychology, and practice. The development methods reflect the project’s ambition to imprint new methodologies and ways of seeing, relating, and learning for the children. The aim has been to focus on instilling various attributes in children including responsibility, compassion, generosity, and creativity.

Al Maha Island
Investment Holding Group today rolled out plans for its latest entertainment and leisure destination that will transform Qatar tourism. Al Maha island is located in Lusail near Place Vendome mall and linked to the mainland via a causeway. In conjunction with Qatar Tourism Authority, Elegancia, an IHG affiliate, and IMG are leading the world-class project.
Al Maha Island is Doha’s one-stop destination for residents and tourists alike seeking entertainment, adventure, and luxury.
Offering the highest quality of fine dining restaurants, world-famous beach clubs, the country's largest music venue and of course the much-anticipated Lusail Winter Wonderland.
Nammos Beach Club
The renowned beach club with its iconic dishes and ambiance is coming to Doha on Al Maha Island. Qatar is expected to host the party of a lifetime on the private beach and will feature modern decor inspired by the original Greek party island.

High-End District
Another attraction for travelers in Al Maha Island is its high-end neighborhood, which features six of the world's top restaurants. The six phenomenal restaurants will include London’s award-winning Zuma, French restaurant LPM, a flair of Levantine Em Sherif, the dazzling nightclub Billionaire, the Turkish delicacies of Dokya, and Indian favorites from Jwala.
Lusail Winter Wonderland
Another one of the main upcoming attractions in the city, Lusail Winter Wonderland, will be located on Al Maha Island in Lusail City near Place Vendome mall. This one-of-a-kind attraction, true to its name, will be drawing in tourists all over the world to this ice-cold world in the desert. Run by IMG, this 200, 000 square meter theme park will be open seasonally from November to March each year.

Dhow Boat Marines - Corniche
The Supervisory Committee of Beautification of Roads and Public Places Ashghal in Qatar announced the commencement of work implementation on the Dhow Boat Marines Construction project at three locations in the Doha Corniche, the first is near the Al-Bidda pedestrian underpass, the second is near Al Dafna pedestrian underpass, whereas the third is near The Sheraton Park in cooperation with Qatar Tourism, Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, Ministry of Transport, Ministry of Municipality and Private Engineering Office.

Eng. Sara Kafood, Deputy Chairman of the Supervisory Committee of Beautification of Roads and Public Places in Qatar stated that the dhow boat marines contribute to highlighting features of The Corniche area from a tourism and entertainment perspective, especially considering the increase in the number of visitors that the country is witnessing in preparation for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 tournament.
West Bay North Beach Project
The highly anticipated West Bay North Beach Project is expected to welcome everyone during the third quarter of the year. The projects include parking points, pedestrian lanes and cycling tracks, restaurants, play areas, and cafes.
Whereas the first phase of the project has been delivered, the masses are awaiting the second phase that will let them take advantage of the new section in the city. The Project is located in the business district of the country’s capital and will be introducing 6 new beaches for the adjacent hotels in the location. Ultimately, there will be 12 private beaches and one public beach in the area.
The area is expected to boost tourism as it will be creating a connected network of public and commercial activities, all the while linking it with the surroundings from Corniche to Lusail. There will be transport services to take the masses to and from the beach through 36 stations and buses that will be shuffling every 12 minutes from 6 am to 9 pm daily.
The project will give ample space to the various beach and marine activities as well as kiosks for restaurants and play area services as well. This project will also include a park for sports activities, and a dedicated swimming pool and will also be used as a fan zone during the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

The Palace

Chedi Katara Hotel & Resort
GHM has announced plans to open a new luxury resort at the Katara Cultural Village. Developed by the Qatari real estate consortium, Triple A, in partnership with Katara Cultural Village, the Chedi Katara Hotel & Resort, Doha, will occupy a beachfront setting within the landmark 100-hectare district. The area includes theatres, concert halls, exhibition galleries, mosques, restaurants, shops, a park, and an open amphitheater.
With a design that pays homage to the glories of Indian Mughal Architecture and a touch of Ottoman influence, the new Chedi’s principal hotel building will house a lobby lounge with 180° views of the sea, an expansive spa, and fitness facility, and rooms and suites with terraces and views over the Arabian Gulf and Doha skyline. The 32 villas dotting the extensive landscaped gardens in the Katara Hills range from one to five bedrooms, all with private gardens and swimming pools, offering privacy, luxury, and tranquillity in the heart of the city.
On the beachfront promenade, a long swimming pool accents the principal resort building while a second infinity pool offers a relaxing environment for families to enjoy a wide variety of snacks and fresh juices at the stand-alone Beach Club. The resort is expected to open in the second half of 2022, ahead of the FIFA World Cup 2022.

Panda Park
Al Khor will be getting its own Panda Park, which is expected to open in the second half of the year. This unique concept in the country is building a habitat for the specified according to the conditions and standards for climate and environment set by official authorities. This is the first Panda Park in the Middle East and is expected to be one of the most iconic treasures of the country.

West Walk - Al Waab
