Qatar’s efforts to beat the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), not just locally but also internationally, have garnered praise from United Nations’ representatives recently.
The Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO), Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus also congratulated Qatar's Minister of Public Health over call for her and His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani's "leadership to contain coronavirus and efforts to implement a comprehensive approach to suppress and control COVID-19."
In addition to its proactiveness and prowess to managing the COVID-19 situation, Qatar continues to set a phenomenal example of humanity, support, and friendship amid this challenging time.
Earlier, Qatar Airways became the first international airline to offer emergency relief flight delivery to China and carried about 300 tonnes of medical supplies to the East Asian country.
Qatar also sent about 13 tonnes of medical aid and supplies to Iran to help the country combat the disease.
Moreover, upon the directives of His Highness the Amir, Qatar disbursed cash assistance to as many as 100,000 needy families in the Gaza Strip.
Adding to this, about a week ago, Qatar sent medical aid to Italy that included two Qatari Amiri Air Force aircraft loaded with two field hospitals.
