US Energy Secretary Chris Wright visited QatarEnergy’s Golden Pass LNG project in Sabine Pass, Texas, where he toured the facilities and discussed the growing role of liquefied natural gas in supporting global economic development and energy security.

In a statement, QatarEnergy said the visit highlighted the importance of the energy partnership between Qatar and the United States.

Minister of State for Energy Affairs HE Saad Sherida Al Kaabi, who is also the President and CEO of QatarEnergy, described the project as QatarEnergy’s largest investment in the US and a reflection of the longstanding strategic relationship between the two countries in the energy sector.

Al Kaabi said the project, developed in partnership with ExxonMobil and supported by the US government, strengthens QatarEnergy’s global position while supporting US economic growth and energy policy objectives.

He also thanked the US government, the Texas legislature, ExxonMobil, and the project’s employees and contractors for their support and efforts.

The Golden Pass LNG project, a joint venture between QatarEnergy (70%) and ExxonMobil (30%), will have a production capacity of 18 million tonnes per annum when all three trains are fully operational.

The first train has already started production, and the first LNG cargo was loaded onto the QatarEnergy LNG carrier Al-Qai’iyah in April 2026.
