1. Heya Arabian Fashion Exhibition

Fashionistas will love visiting Qatar’s largest and most influential fashion event this weekend.  The Heya Arabian Fashion Exhibition will host more than 300 designers and brands, showcasing the latest Arabian fashion designs for abayas, jalabiyas, kaftans, hijabs, shaylas, veils and evening gowns.  Unique and boutique collections, high street apparel, couture and luxury collections will be purchasable, as well as make-up and perfume, and a myriad of accessories, including bags, shoes and belts. 

Held alongside the main exhibition, the event will host daily, inspirational fashion forums and hands-on workshops led by industry experts.  There will also be a variety of glamorous fashion shows each day.  Monday evening will host an awards night from 7:30pm onwards, to recognise and honour key players in the Arabian fashion industry.  On Tuesday evening graduates of the Qatar International Beauty Academy will attend for the Tajmeel Graduation ceremony.

  • Friday 26th - 4pm to 11pm
  • Saturday 27th, Sunday 28th, Tuesday 30th - 10am to 10pm
  • Monday 29th - 12 noon to 10pm.

Other: Friday events are open to families, including husbands and fathers.  All other event days are Ladies only days, with access for girls of 13 years and above only.

2. 2018 World Superbike Championship – Pirelli Qatar Round

The final races of the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship are about to get underway this weekend at the Losail International Circuit.  If you are a motorsport fan, then this season’s closing round in Qatar is not to be missed.

There will be plenty of action on the circuit as the races begin.  Riders will be battling hard for the final titles up for grabs in this the 13th and ultimate round of the season.  Fans will also be able to enjoy Paddock Show activities.  The show provides opportunities to meet the riders, win official WorldSBK (superbike) goodies, watch on-stage action and get involved in autograph sessions.  There will also be giant screens mounted throughout the grandstand and paddock area that will feature live race commentary.

Where: Losail International Circuit, Al Wusail, North Relief Road

Dates: Thursday 25th – Saturday 27th October

Times: Thursday 25th – The action starts at 4:20pm with the final practice session of the day beginning at 8:45pm.  Friday 26th – Free practice starts at 2:25pm with the final race (Race 1) scheduled for 7:00pm.  Saturday 27th – Warm up begins at 3:00pm with the last race at 7:00pm and the MOTUL FIM World Superbike Championship Prize Giving Ceremony starting at 9:00pm. 

Price: Grandstand tickets cost QR100 for the 3 days (children 11 years-old and under are free).  Daily tickets are also available.  All tickets give visitors access to both the Paddock and the Prize Giving Ceremony on Saturday evening.

On-line tickets can be purchased at www.lcsc.qa and during the event at the ticket booths of the circuit.

Other: Spectators will all have a chance to win access to the Grid and the Pit Wall Canopy simply by purchasing their ticket, then filling in a ballot which can be found at the LCSC official merchandising tent.  Winners will be entered into a raffle drawn each evening.

3. 48th Artistic Gymnastics World Championships Doha 2018

This weekend gymnasts from over 80 countries, including three Team Qatar gymnasts,  will be limbering up to compete in the 48th Artistic Gymnastics World Championships.  The 10 days of competitive gymnastics, at Doha’s Aspire Dome, will commence on Thursday 25th.  Over 700 male and female gymnasts will compete in events such as balance beam, vault, parallel bars, uneven bars, rings and floor exercise.

The up and coming event will be the first time the championships have been held in Qatar or the Middle East.

4. Orchestra of the Filipino Youth

Hit a musical high this weekend and visit Katara Cultural Village where the Orchestra of the Filipino Youth (OFY) will be performing.  The orchestra is composed of 69 young musicians from the Philippines.  The orchestra will play a mix of classical and contemporary masterpieces by Western and Filipino composers.

The OFY is an orchestral training program that offers talented children, mostly from less privileged families, the opportunity to achieve their full musical potential through the Classical Music discipline, with the ultimate hope of creating a positive impact on their individual lives and their respective communities.

Where: Opera House – Building 16, Katara, Doha

Dates: Friday 26th October

Times: 7:00pm – 8:00pm

Price: Free

Other: Children below the age of 6 will not be allowed entrance to the event.

5. Visit the State Mosque – Imam Muhammad Ibn Abdul Wahhaab

If you want to learn a little more about the religion that underpins Qatari culture and Muslim society, or you would just like to explore one of the finest buildings in Doha, then this organised tour of the Grand State Mosque is an ideal start.

Named after an 18thC theologist, Imam Muhammad Ibn Abdul Wahhaab, and more commonly known as the State Mosque, this is the largest mosque in Qatar.  The building is a mix of traditional Arabic and modern architecture, and built over three levels, with 90 domes and 18 entrances, it can accommodate more than 30,000 worshippers for prayers.  This impressive building is well worth a visit. The best photos are taken at dusk and after the sun has set.

Times: 3:15pm – 4:45pm (gathering at 3:00pm)

Other: All visitors must pre-register by the 25th October by 11:00am.  To register, send your name, nationality, gender and mobile number to culture@islam.gov.qa

The tour will be held in English and all audiences are welcome.

Wear modest clothing.  A headscarf and an abaya will be provided for ladies.  No shoes will be allowed inside the Mosque.
