For the first time in Qatar, the UCI Road Cycling World Championships will take place in Doha from 9 -16 October 2016. More than 1,000 cyclists from 75 countries, and over 5,700 participants, will be celebrating the spirit of cycling.

The event will bring together the world's best male and female road cyclists in the Elite, Under-23 and Junior categories for the time trial and road race. Twelve titles of UCI World Champion will be awarded during the event.

This is the first time this event will be held in the Middle East and here is everything you need to know about the championships.

LOCATIONS

The races take place at some of Qatar’s most iconic locations, such as Aspire Zone, Qatar Foundation, Lusail, and The Pearl-Qatar.

The Time Trial Training will start at 10:00AM up until 1:00PM.

UCI Women’s Team Time Trial

UCI Women’s Team Time Trial will start at 02:15PM up until 04:40PM (5:00PM).

Men Under 23 Individual Time Trial

Men Junior Individual Time Trial

Confirmation of starters for all nations and all categories will start at 9:00AM to 12:00PM. Each nation will be allocated a time slot for confirmation.

FAN ACTIVITIES

Fan zone: The Fan Zone offers fun for all the family, located at Costa Malaz Beach on The Pearl-Qatar within an air-conditioned tent just ahead of the race finish line. There will be games and activities for all ages and entertainment from BMX stunt riders, cultural displays to name but a few. Food and beverage booths will be available as well.

Parking: During road closure hours: When the roads are closed for the races, you will be able to park your car either at the Katara Cultural Village or at Doha Exhibition Center (DEC) and use the water taxis or shuttle buses, respectively.

During road opening hours: When the roads have opened in/out of The Pearl, you will be able to park your vehicle at Medina Centrale and either walk or ride a golf cart to the Fan Zone.

Operation hours:

9th -13th October: 9 am – 6 pm

14th -15th October: 7 am – 9 pm

16th October: 9am – 9 pm

RIDE OF CHAMPIONS

The UCI Road World Championships Doha 2016 is providing enthusiastic riders with an experience very close to the real thing — the Ride Of Champions (#ROCQATAR16). The Ride will be held on Saturday, October 15, the penultimate day of racing of the eight-day Championships.

Over a 3-hour period, riders can complete as little as 15km or over 75km for the experienced cyclist.

Entry is free, however, places are limited and registrations will be completed strictly on a first-come, first-serve basis. All participants will receive a finisher’s pack as well as a commemorative medal and top.
