The sixth edition of the World Innovation Summit for Health (WISH 2022), the global health initiative of Qatar Foundation, concluded with a focus on how sports can play an important role in making the entire country more accessible, inclusive, and achieving equitable healthcare.
The closing ceremony was also attended by Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, Chairperson of Qatar Foundation. Other notable guests included the President of Tanzania H E Samia Suluhu Hassan; the First Lady of Sierra Leone H E Dr. Fatima Maada Bio; Vice-Chairperson and CEO of Qatar Foundation H E Sheikha Hind bint Hamad Al Thani; Minister of Public Health H E Dr. Hanan Mohamed Al Kuwari; President of FIFA, Gianni Infantino; Secretary General of the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy Hassan Al Thawadi; and several other dignitaries and decision-makers.

During the last session, ‘WISH Declaration on Disability Inclusion in Sport and Health’ was drawn up by the World Health Organization, the International Disability Alliance, and WISH. The initiative calls for immediate action for inclusive participation in sports

Other discussions highlighted sports being used as a healthy lifestyle choice by all ages, the impact of sporting events on health, and effective planning and delivery for future events.
In addition to sports and healthcare, the three-day summit also focused on vaccine innovation and equity, lessons from COVID-19, and the general well-being of migrant workers and also the healthcare workforce.

The fourth edition of the Street Child World Cup was also formally launched under the Streed Child United, urging underserved children all over the world to become part of the 28 teams from 25 countries.
WISH also serves as an impactful platform to recognize the latest innovations in healthcare, and through its Innovation Competitions recognizes early-stage startups, as well as those looking to scale up. This year’s winners were awarded cash prizes and WISH-sponsored trips to the upcoming Web Summit in Portugal in November — one of the largest tech conferences in the world
