Five US prisoners, who were held captive by Iran for several years, were brought to Qatar as part of a prisoner-swap programme. The prisoner swap, which was brokered mainly by Qatar and Oman, will also see five Iranians being released. The US also unblocked $6bn of Iranian funds and transferred it to Qatar from South Korea.

The Ministry of Education and Higher Education announced yesterday that it will be reducing the school transportation fees from QAR 1000 to QAR 220 per student per semester starting from the current academic year 2023/2024 for non-Qatari and non-GCC public school students.
