School Staff Return August 23 as Second-Round Exams Begin

Administrative and teaching staff at government schools return to work on Sunday, August 23, marking the start of direct school preparations for the 2026–2027 academic year.

School teams will begin completing academic, administrative and organisational preparations and ensuring that the school environment is ready to welcome students.

Students at all government schools are scheduled to begin classes for the new academic year on Sunday, August 30.

The return of school staff forms part of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education's preparations for the new academic year, including completing academic, organisational and operational plans and ensuring the readiness of schools and arrangements linked to the start of classes.

At the same time, second-round examinations for the 2025–2026 academic year begin on August 23 and continue until Thursday, August 27.

The examinations cover students across different grades and educational stages in accordance with schedules approved by the ministry.

The Ministry of Education and Higher Education called on students sitting the second-round examinations and their parents to follow school instructions and adhere to the approved timings and arrangements.

Second-round examination schedules are available through the Ministry of Education and Higher Education's website.

The ministry reiterated that preparations are continuing to ensure the smooth running of the examinations and the readiness of schools for an organised and effective start to the 2026–2027 academic year.
