Government and private schools are preparing for the start of the 2026–2027 academic year, with students scheduled to return to classrooms on Sunday, August 30, 2026.
According to the Ministry of Education and Higher Education’s annual school calendar, school employees will begin work for the new academic year one week earlier, on Sunday, August 23.
The first mid-term break of the academic year will run from Sunday, October 25, to Thursday, October 29, with classes resuming on Sunday, November 1.
First-semester final examinations for Grade 12 day-school and adult-education students, Grades 10 and 11 day-school and adult-education students, and Grades 1 to 9 day-school and adult-education students will conclude on Tuesday, December 15.
The mid-year academic break will then begin on Sunday, December 20. School employees will return for the second semester on Sunday, January 3, 2027, followed by students on Monday, January 4.
The calendar also includes an extended weekend break from Wednesday, March 31, to Thursday, April 1, 2027, with classes resuming on Sunday, April 4.
Second-semester final examinations for Grade 12 day-school and adult-education students will run from Tuesday, June 1, to Thursday, June 17, 2027.
For Grades 10 and 11 day-school and adult-education students, final examinations will take place from Thursday, June 3, to Tuesday, June 15.
Grades 1 to 9 day-school and adult-education students will sit their final examinations from Thursday, June 3, to Monday, June 14, 2027.
