Al Jazeera Media Institute Wins 2026 Global Recognition Award

Al Jazeera Media Institute has received the 2026 Global Recognition Award in recognition of its role in developing AI-powered media tools, expanding professional training to reach thousands of trainees around the world, and supporting wider access to digital media education.

The award is one of the special honours presented to institutions and individuals that achieve outstanding results in innovation, leadership, and professional excellence. More than 12,000 candidates applied for the award, with only 482 institutions and individuals selected, representing around 4% of applicants. This reflects the strong position Al Jazeera Media Institute has earned among leading global institutions.

The awarding body used the Rasch measurement model to assess the Institute’s achievements, alongside those of other candidates, ensuring a high level of fairness and objectivity in the evaluation process. The assessment was based on criteria including innovation, leadership, impact, social responsibility, and quality of outcomes.

The award jury praised several initiatives that have strengthened Al Jazeera Media Institute’s international standing. These include organising the “AI in Media” conference, which has become an international platform bringing together media professionals, experts, and technologists to discuss the future of artificial intelligence in newsrooms, as well as delivering specialised training programmes that have benefited more than 82,000 trainees.

The jury also highlighted the Institute’s track record, which includes more than 7,000 training courses and 36 international awards, in addition to its digital platforms, which have generated 120 million views. These achievements reflect the Institute’s continued commitment to developing media talent and sharing professional knowledge.

This recognition further reinforces the position Al Jazeera Media Institute has established as one of the leading media training institutions in the region and the world. Through one institutional framework, the Institute brings together the development of AI-powered media tools, the expansion of professional training, and a strong commitment to social responsibility, while maintaining high professional quality and training standards.
