HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, received a phone call from HH Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the sisterly United Arab Emirates.
During the call, the two sides reviewed the latest developments in the military escalation between the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran over the past two days.
HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs expressed the State of Qatar’s condemnation and rejection of attacks targeting commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz.
His Excellency said the attacks come despite the atmosphere of calm and ongoing efforts to reduce escalation in the region.
He stressed that such actions undermine trust, threaten international navigation security and harm efforts aimed at establishing regional security and stability.
His Excellency also underlined the need for all parties to commit to dialogue and diplomacy, and to implement what has been agreed within the framework of the memorandum of understanding.
He said this would contribute to preserving regional security, safeguarding the gains achieved and strengthening regional stability.
During the call, HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs renewed Qatar’s support for all efforts aimed at containing the escalation and reaching a comprehensive agreement that contributes to establishing security and stability and achieving sustainable peace in the region.
