Community College of Qatar to Launch Artificial Intelligence and Digital Media Associate Diplomas on January 10

The Community College of Qatar announced the launch of the Associate Diploma in Artificial Intelligence and the Associate Diploma in Digital Media in the Spring 2027 semester, with classes in both programmes beginning on January 10. The launch is part of the College's efforts to keep pace with digital transformation requirements and labour market needs. The College aims to admit 108 male and female students in the first cohort, with 48 seats for the Artificial Intelligence programme and 60 for the Digital Media programme.

The College's Admissions and Registration Department said in a statement that students currently enrolled in other majors will be able to apply to transfer to the two new programmes from October 18. Registration for new students wishing to join the programmes will begin on November 1, in accordance with the approved admission requirements and regulations.

The Associate Diploma in Artificial Intelligence, offered by the Information Technology Department in the Science and Technology Division, is the first associate diploma qualification in this discipline in the State of Qatar. The two-year programme comprises 60 credit hours and is based on practical training in advanced laboratories using GPU technology, covering machine learning, data analysis, computer vision and artificial intelligence ethics.

It is supported by recommendations from global technology companies including Google Cloud, Huawei, Microsoft and Cisco, with the possibility of transferring up to 54 credit hours for students wishing to complete a bachelor's degree at Qatar University.

Dr. Abdullah Al-Ghushami, Dean of the Science and Technology Division, said the programme responds to the need for professionals with practical skills who can support the country's digital transformation efforts. He noted that College surveys showed that 68 percent of students wanted to enrol in the specialisation, while 95 percent of employers confirmed a need for its graduates at key entities including the Ministry of Defence, the Ministry of Interior, the National Cyber Security Agency and QatarEnergy.

The two-year Digital Media programme, offered by the Literature Department in the Liberal Arts Division under the slogan “Today's Field, Tomorrow's Opportunities in Qatar,” provides an applied pathway focusing on digital writing, podcast production, data journalism and the use of artificial intelligence applications in media work.

Dr. Al Jazi Al Athba, Dean of the Liberal Arts Division, said the programme integrates modern technologies while emphasising professional responsibility and national identity. It is designed to prepare graduates to work in media organisations, government sectors, and communications and marketing companies.

The introduction of the two programmes aligns with the inclusion of these disciplines among the priority fields in the Scholarship Plan and the Government Guide to Targeted Specialisations. It also comes amid projections that Qatar's artificial intelligence market will grow to $1.94 billion by 2030.
