Cooperation Agreement to Enhance Education Opportunities and Develop Services at Assalam Schools

The Ministry of Education and Higher Education and Education Above All Foundation signed a cooperation agreement defining the general framework for operating and supporting Assalam Schools in the State of Qatar, contributing to enhanced education opportunities for the targeted groups and the development of the educational services provided to them.

The signing ceremony was attended by HE Lolwah bint Rashid bin Mohammed Al Khater, Minister of Education and Higher Education, HE Dr Ibrahim Bin Saleh Al Nuaimi, Undersecretary of the Ministry, and several senior officials from both sides.

The agreement was signed by Muhammad Ali Ahmed Kreib, Assistant Undersecretary for Shared Services Affairs at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, and Mohammed Saad Al-Kubaisi, Chief Executive Officer of Education Above All Foundation.

The agreement forms part of joint efforts to provide appropriate educational opportunities for students who face challenges enrolling in formal education. It also seeks to promote an inclusive educational environment that takes cultural, social and economic diversity into account and contributes to developing students’ academic and social skills.

Kreib said the agreement reflects the Ministry’s commitment to providing quality education that meets the needs of students facing educational challenges and strengthens partnerships with civil society organisations. He said Assalam Schools represent an important educational project supporting the Ministry’s efforts to provide fair and inclusive education opportunities and enable students to continue learning in safe and motivating educational environments.

Al-Kubaisi said the agreement extends the existing cooperation between Education Above All Foundation and the Ministry of Education and Higher Education in support of Assalam Schools. He said it would reinforce integration between the two sides to ensure an inclusive and supportive educational environment for students who experience difficulties accessing education.

He added that the Foundation begins by examining students’ needs and the barriers preventing them from receiving an education, before working with its partners to develop appropriate solutions. He expressed confidence that cooperation with supporting entities across Qatar would expand access to Assalam Schools and assist a greater number of students.

Salem Al Mansouri, Senior Consultant at the Qatar National Commission for Education, Culture and Science and General Coordinator of the Assalam Schools project, said the new agreement represents an important milestone in the institutional partnership among the parties concerned. He said it would help organise the schools’ work, strengthen their sustainability and promote equal education opportunities for the targeted groups.

Al Mansouri said the Assalam Schools project has provided a pioneering model for overcoming barriers facing students who experience challenges enrolling in formal education since its launch in 2019. The project supports the principles of inclusive and equitable education for all.
