The Ministry of Education and Higher Education has directed public schools to activate educational cards prepared through Qatar Sustainability Lab 2026 from November 1 to 5 and integrate them into lessons included in their term plans. The directive forms part of the Ministry’s participation as a strategic partner in Qatar Sustainability Week 2026 and aims to strengthen students’ understanding of sustainable development by connecting it with curricula and daily life.
In a circular sent to male and female principals of public schools, the Curriculum and Learning Resources Department said the lab, held from October 25 to 27, brought together 42 educators. The participants included 27 male and female teachers and coordinators and 15 specialists from the Curriculum and Learning Resources Department and the Department of Educational Guidance. Working in eight specialised teams, they produced educational cards for students in Grades 5 and 6 at the primary level and for students at the preparatory and secondary levels.
The Department said the lab aims to transform sustainability topics contained in Qatar’s curricula and connected with national priorities into practical and enriching educational applications. The applications are designed to be interactive and easy to implement while helping students connect acquired knowledge and skills with situations from their daily lives. School administrations were instructed to direct their academic departments to activate the cards according to each department’s specialisation and the targeted grades, covering Islamic Education, Arabic Language, Mathematics, Science, English Language, Social Studies, Computing and Information Technology, and Visual Arts.
The Department stressed that the cards must be used in accordance with the Qatar National Curriculum Framework and in a manner suited to the relevant lessons and study plans. They may be implemented inside or outside classrooms or through the Qatar Education System, depending on the nature of each card and in coordination with school administrations.
Schools were also instructed to document the outcomes of activating the educational cards and prepare brief reports identifying the participating departments, the cards implemented and the numbers of teachers and students involved. Documentary photographs should be included where possible, and the reports must be sent to the Curriculum and Learning Resources Department through the designated email address no later than Thursday, November 12.
Activating the cards is intended to strengthen school participation in Qatar Sustainability Week, establish educational practices that encourage students to engage with environmental and development issues, and help them apply classroom knowledge when presenting practical solutions that support Qatar’s sustainability direction.
