The Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MOEHE) has signed an agreement with GSM Educational Foundation, under which the Foundation will manage and operate the Ministry's International School of Medical Sciences and Engineering, becoming the third school in the program to attract distinguished foreign schools in the State of Qatar, as part of the Ministry's efforts to strengthen partnerships with international educational institutions, and benefit from its expertise in developing specialized education and improving the quality of educational outcomes.
The agreement was signed on behalf of the Ministry by His Excellency Dr. Ibrahim bin Saleh Al Nuaimi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, and Mr. Sean Robson, Executive Director of GSM Educational Foundation.
Under the agreement, GSM will develop the school's academic and administrative performance, building on its achievements over the past years, by employing its international expertise, digital educational systems, and academic network, while maintaining the school's scientific and specialized identity, and the continuity of its educational paths in the fields of medical sciences and engineering.
GSM has extensive international experience in the management, operation and development of educational institutions, with more than 190 schools in the United States and abroad, more than 89 private schools in the United States, and direct experience in the management and ownership of 11 schools spread across five countries, including the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, Saudi Arabia and the Sultanate of Oman.
The institution adopts an integrated educational system that includes advanced curricula and educational plans, a digital education system used in more than 195 schools around the world, as well as a network of academic relationships that facilitate students' access to more than 120 prestigious international universities.
The signing of the agreement comes as an extension of the program to attract distinguished foreign schools, which was launched by the Ministry in 2007, with the aim of attracting international educational institutions with distinguished expertise to manage and operate schools in the country, and benefit from their academic and administrative curricula and practices, in accordance with the educational legislation and policies adopted in the State of Qatar.
With the addition of the International School of Medical Sciences and Engineering to the programme, the number of schools attracted by the Ministry of Medical Sciences and Engineering will increase to three, along with the Qatari Finnish International School and the SEK Spanish International School, which are managed and operated by specialized international educational institutions.
The agreement reflects the Ministry's orientation towards expanding the use of the best international educational practices, developing qualitative scientific tracks, and providing various educational options that contribute to developing students' abilities and preparing them to join universities and scientific disciplines locally and internationally, while consolidating values and preserving the national identity.
This step is in line with the objectives of the Third National Development Strategy of the State of Qatar 2024-2030, by benefiting from international educational experiences in developing science, engineering and technology education, enhancing students' scientific and applied skills, and preparing them to keep pace with technological developments and future labor market requirements, in a way that contributes to the development of qualified national competencies and supports the country's orientation towards building a diversified economy based on knowledge and innovation.
