With Qatar’s first Shura Council elections set to take place on October 2, 2021, the final list of the candidates for the elections has been issued.

A total of 284 candidates, including 28 women, for 30 electoral districts have been confirmed on the list, announced by the Supervisory Committee for the Shura Council elections at the conclusion of the period for submitting objections to the preliminary list.

The final list of candidates for the Shura Council elections is available here.

Candidates will begin their electoral campaigns in line with the established rules and regulations. The campaigning will draw to a close 24 hours before the start of the polling process.

Candidates will be able to hold seminars and electoral programs at several gymnasiums and youth centers in Qatar, allocated by the Ministry of Interior in conjunction with the Ministry of Culture and Sports.

Candidates can also hold a seminar in a hotel at their personal expense provided that they inform the Supervisory Committee.

Earlier in August, Qatar Media Corporation launched a new website that allows candidates to appear through multiple media platforms, with equal opportunities, to present themselves and their programs to voters in the electoral districts.

Under the Shura Council Electoral System Law, Qatari citizens can vote for 30 members of the Shura Council, while His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani will appoint another 15 members.
