Over the last few months, Lusail Boulevard has transformed itself into a favourite meeting spot for the public during festive occasions.

Beginning with the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, hundreds of thousands of people have visited the iconic area. One way authorities kept things safe for everyone was by closing it to traffic during festive seasons.

The Lusail Boulevard, which allowed access only to pedestrians during the holy month of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr celebrations, will reopen to cars and other vehicular traffic from Wednesday, May 3, announced Lusail City on social media.

It added that cars can access Lusail Boulevard from 3 pm on Wednesday and it would no longer be pedestrians-only.

The Eid al-Fitr celebrations at Lusail Boulevard, which ended on April 28, 2023, had been a massive hit, with more than 750,000 people experiencing it.

The cultural events started at Lusail Boulevard on the second day of Eid, with lots of food, fun, and entertainment taking centre stage. People were able to experience colourful and magical parades, family-friendly activities, and roaming acts, as well as a stunning fireworks display and the longest drone show in the GCC.

The facility was also a melting pot of cultures, with live DJ shows, concerts and food from different parts of the world readily available.

The facility has been closed off to traffic on multiple occasions in the past. It had been ‘pedestrians-only’ during FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, when the Lusail Stadium hosted several World Cup matches including the final.

A portion of the Boulevard had also been closed to vehicular traffic during the 11-day Qatar International Food Festival.
