Mughal-E-Azam Musical in Doha: Dates & Tickets

The grand Bollywood stage production Mughal-E-Azam: The Musical comes to Doha on 6 and 7 November 2026 at Al Mayassa Theatre inside the Qatar National Convention Centre (QNCC).

Gates open at 6pm, with the performance beginning from 7pm. The show is performed in Hindi with English subtitles, and tickets are available through Q-Tickets.

If you're planning to see the production in Doha, here's what to know about the dates, ticket prices, venue, transport and what to expect on stage.

Mughal-E-Azam in Doha at a glance

  • Dates: 6–7 November 2026
  • Venue: Al Mayassa Theatre, Qatar National Convention Centre
  • Location: Education City, Al Rayyan
  • Gates open: 6pm
  • Show: 7pm onwards
  • Language: Hindi with English subtitles
  • Tickets: From QAR 149 on current event listings
  • Booking: Q-Tickets

Q-Tickets currently lists the event as “Admission: All.”

When is Mughal-E-Azam in Doha?

The musical runs for two nights:

Friday, 6 November 2026

Saturday, 7 November 2026

Gates open at 6pm, with the performance scheduled from 7pm onwards.

The official Q-Tickets listing does not currently give a firm finishing time, so I would avoid telling readers that the performance definitely ends at 9pm or 10pm.

Allow plenty of time for the show and for exiting QNCC afterwards.

Where is the show?

The production will be staged at:

Al Mayassa Theatre

Qatar National Convention Centre

Education City, Al Rayyan

Al Mayassa Theatre is one of QNCC's main performance venues and has 2,300 seats spread across three tiers.

The theatre also includes an orchestra pit, extensive backstage facilities, advanced sound and lighting systems, and projection technology designed for major theatrical and musical productions.

How much are tickets?

Current Qatar event information lists tickets:

From QAR 149

The exact price depends on the seating category and availability.

Because seating and pricing can change as categories sell out, use the live Q-Tickets event page for the final amount before paying.

I would replace the original wording saying that “prices haven't been announced yet,” because tickets are now actively being sold and a starting price is available.

How to buy tickets

Tickets are sold through Q-Tickets.

The process is straightforward:

  1. Search for Mughal-E-Azam on Q-Tickets.
  2. Select the Doha event.
  3. Choose your preferred performance date.
  4. Select an available seating category.
  5. Complete payment.
  6. Keep the electronic ticket ready for entry.

Q-Tickets currently confirms the event dates, gates-opening time, performance time and venue.

What to expect from Mughal-E-Azam

Mughal-E-Azam: The Musical is the stage adaptation of K. Asif's iconic 1960 film Mughal-E-Azam.

The story follows Prince Salim and Anarkali, whose forbidden relationship brings Salim into conflict with his father, Emperor Akbar.

The stage production first premiered in 2016 and has since completed more than 275 performances across eight countries, including India, Canada, Malaysia, Oman, Qatar, Singapore, the UAE and the US.

The scale of the production

This isn't a small touring play.

The current production information lists:

  • 150+ cast and crew
  • 250+ stage lights
  • 550 costumes
  • Live singing
  • Indian classical music
  • Kathak choreography
  • Large-scale sets and projection

The costumes were designed by Manish Malhotra, while the production is directed by Feroz Abbas Khan and produced by Deepesh Salgia.

The musical won seven BroadwayWorld India Awards in 2017, including Best Play, Best Direction, Best Original Choreography, Best Costume Design and Best Set Design.

Is the singing live?

Yes.

The official production website states that songs from the original film are performed live.

I would therefore describe the show as featuring live singing, rather than “live orchestration,” because the latter is not confirmed in the current Doha event information.

What language is the musical in?

The performance is in:

Hindi with English subtitles

That makes it accessible to audiences who enjoy the story and spectacle but may not speak Hindi fluently.

How long is the show?

The current Q-Tickets listing says:

7pm onwards

but does not publish an official end time.

Some current third-party event listings give different estimated finishing times, so don't publish a precise runtime unless the organiser confirms it closer to the event.

For planning purposes, don't schedule something immediately afterwards.

Getting to QNCC by Metro

Take the Doha Metro Green Line to:

Qatar National Library Station

QNCC's official directions say:

  1. Get off at Qatar National Library Station.
  2. Leave through Gate 2.
  3. Follow the pedestrian path leading towards QNCC.

Al Mayassa Theatre is located in QNCC's South Building.

Getting there by Education City Tram

You can also use the Education City Tram.

Take the tram to:

QNCC Station

From there, walk directly towards QNCC's South Entrance.

This is a better recommendation than simply saying “take a taxi from the Metro,” because both walking and the tram are official QNCC transport options.

Driving and parking

If you're driving, QNCC recommends entering:

“Parking P5 – QNCC”

in Waze

or:

“QNCC Car Park”

in Google Maps.

QNCC has multi-storey parking.

After parking, follow the QNCC signage towards the Convention Centre and Al Mayassa Theatre.

Because the theatre holds around 2,300 people, arriving early is sensible on show nights.

Taxi and ride-hailing

For Uber, Karwa or another ride-hailing service, QNCC recommends entering:

“QNCC Public Pick Up Drop Off”

as the destination.

That takes passengers to the Ground Level entrance serving the South Building.

When should you arrive?

With gates opening at 6pm and the show starting at 7pm, I would aim to arrive between:

6pm and 6:20pm

That leaves enough time for parking or drop-off, ticket scanning and finding your seat without rushing.

If you're driving, give yourself extra time because traffic and parking demand can increase close to curtain time.

What should you wear?

The current official event listing does not publish a specific dress code.

So I would avoid presenting smart-casual or formal wear as an event requirement.

For a theatre performance, smart casual is a reasonable personal choice, but it isn't currently stated as mandatory.

Why the show is notable

Mughal-E-Azam is widely promoted as India's first Broadway-style musical.

The production combines theatre, cinema, Indian classical music and Kathak dance while retaining many of the songs and dramatic elements associated with the original film.

Its scale — from the hundreds of costumes to the large touring technical setup — is a big part of the appeal, making the Doha dates more of a full theatrical spectacle than a standard music concert.
